Norbulinkha (The Summer Palace Lhasa)
Construction of the Norbulinkha (precious jewels island) was started by the 7th Dalai Lama in 1755. This is a large complex of small palaces and chapels within a walled garden, about 4 km west of the Potala Palace. The earliest building in the park is the Gesang Pozhang Palace built by the 7th Dalai Lama. In 1954.The present Dalai Lama started construction of the New Palace which was completed by 1956, the New Palace is tiny, compared to Potala but it contains fascinating murals in excellent condition
