  Yangtze River

    The Yangtze River, the No.1 River in China and the third longest river in the world, which only is only less than Amazon in South America and Nile in Africa, rising in a snow mountain southwest of the Tanggula Mountains on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. Zigzags its way through Qinghai. Tibet, Yunnan, Sichuan, Chongqing, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi and Shanghai, and empties into the East China Sea at Chongming Island, covering a distance of 6,380 kilometers. Upstream from Yichang in Hubei Province is the upper reaches of the river, and the world famous Three Gorges makes a gold tourist route with a splendid and magnificent view. The water recourse is the sum of that in America, Canada and Japan. It was also listed the No. 3 in the world. The watershed area of the Yangtze River is about 1,800,000 square miles, Approximately 20% of China's total land area, and 25% of its total farming land area. Almost all of the boating traffic in China is on the Yangtze River.
